About

The 3-storey Mill House is thought to date back to 1840. It's set in two acres of mature woodland with a stream and ponds that used to power a mill-wheel to grind the corn into flour. The coastal location is close to a significant event in world history, the sinking of the Lusitania in 1914. The resulting loss of 1200 lives triggered the entry of the US into WW1. Over the years, The Mill House had fallen into dereliction and was in a sorry state when it was saved by a local family in the early 1990's who set about restoring it to its former glory. A new roof, windows and staircase were added by the former owners to create a beautiful and comfortable family home.

Initially only cosmetic work was undertaken but that culminated in 2022 with a large refurbishment project. The first two floors were effectively turned upside down. The ground floor being converted into two en-suite bedrooms and the first floor living, dining and kitchen into a light filled open-plan space to take advantage of the first floor access to the extensive gardens. The surrounding gardens and outside areas were landscaped to create a large stone patio with zones with an outdoor lounge, sunbathing, dining, and kitchen.
